We are recommending that people install Office 2011, as it works well with MathType.

I’ve added you to our internal interest list and will provide you with an update on time frames when we have a more solid estimate. The biggest hurdle is that Microsoft has configured Office 2016 as sandboxed applications, and they have high security restrictions. There are some hurdles that need to be passed before we can make it happen, and we are in communication with Microsoft about them. We don’t have a time frame yet for MathType integration into Office 2016, but are working on it.
